THE YA SOKO IMPACT

Being a business in this era means taking real responsibility, standing firm in values that matter deeply. We make thoughtful, deliberate choices to help the diverse people and nature around us, knowing that our actions ripple far beyond the immediate. We don’t feel the need to shout about this because it’s not just something we do … it’s who we fundamentally are, woven into the very fabric of our identity.

YA SOKO IMPACT

Discover how YA SOKO makes a powerful impact by supporting businesses and uplifting diverse communities around the world.

  • YA SOKO provides the carefully chosen brands in our portfolio with a powerful platform to showcase and sell their products, enabling them to genuinely benefit by receiving the essential funds needed to sustain, expand, and grow their unique businesses while continuing to support their individual causes.

Through direct purchases from the brands themselves, our strategic sponsorships, thoughtfully curated events, and meaningful community giveaways, we have consistently backed a diverse range of initiatives.

On many occasions we have also contributed a percentage of our sales to charitable causes, transforming routine transactions into tangible social impact and ensuring our sales serve something better.

YA SOKO Give and Empower in the following ways:

Purchasing Goods | Encouraging Self Reliance

At the heart of what we do is purchasing and promoting goods from businesses, charities, and social enterprises that care about causes ranging from Palestine to ocean clean-up.

Many of the brands we work with actively contribute to the empowerment of displaced and underserved communities through fair wages, vocational training, community support, and entrepreneurship initiatives.

    Donations (Physical)

We donate items from our store as well as our beautifully assembled hamper baskets to organisations raising funds through sales or auctions of these items, helping them generate income and visibility for their causes.

    Donations (Financial)

We make financial contributions by allocating a percentage of profits from our chosen in-person events to charities and community groups, providing dependable support that helps sustain ongoing work.

    Sponsorships

We regularly sponsor cause-driven and community events, helping groups raise funds, increase awareness, and amplify the issues they care about through targeted sponsorship that strengthens their reach and impact.

If you are interested in receiving help in any of the above areas please get in touch here.

  • We strongly believe in Self Reliance

Self-reliance in critical because it moves organisations and individuals away from a sole reliance on unpredictable donations or government grants, enabling long-term sustainability, operational autonomy, and greater, more stable social impact.

By generating their own income through trading goods or services, these individuals and organisations can escape "survival mode," innovate, and build stronger, more resilient communities, hope and pride.

With some of our brand partners this means fostering the self-reliance of refugee and displaced communities by providing sustainable, long-term employment opportunities and comprehensive skill development training.

Our goal is to create a lasting impact by empowering individuals with the tools and stability they need to build secure futures.

  • Long-Term Financial Sustainability and Stability

Reduced Dependence on Grants: Relying solely on donations is risky and unpredictable.

Building self-reliance through diversified earned income creates a more predictable and steady revenue stream, enabling organisations and individuals to weather economic downturns, shifts in donor priorities, or abrupt funding cuts.

Reinvestment for Impact: Profits generated from social enterprise activities are intentionally reinvested into the mission, creating a self-funding loop that supports ongoing programs and growth rather than offering only temporary relief.

Better Resource Management: Organisations that pursue self-reliance tend to develop stronger financial planning and management capabilities, improving their ability to withstand crises, allocate resources strategically, and scale their operations effectively.

    Autonomy and Mission Integrity

Independence from Funders: Self-reliance provides freedom from restrictive donor conditions or changing government priorities.

Authentic Advocacy: Without reliance on external funding, social enterprises can campaign, innovate, and act more authentically to address root causes of problems without fear of losing funding.

Avoiding Mission Drift: By controlling their own finances, organisations can stay focused on their core purpose rather than tailoring services to fit grant criteria.

    Greater Social Impact and Empowerment

Shifting from Charity to Empowerment: Instead of merely handing out resources, self-reliant models (especially those focusing on employment) empower beneficiaries by building skills, creating jobs, and fostering dignity.

Community Resilience: Social enterprises often create local jobs and provide essential goods/services, strengthening the local economy and making communities more resilient to shocks.

Addressing Root Causes: With sustainable funding, organisations can move beyond immediate, short-term relief to invest in systemic, long-term solutions that permanently change lives.

    Enhanced Credibility and Innovation.

Innovation Incentives: The need to compete or sell products encourages innovation, often leading to more creative and effective solutions than traditional charity models.

The World's First Biodegradable Sheet Mask and Packaging

BEAUTYPRO latest innovation tackles the issue of non-recyclable and non-biodegradable plastic waste.

BEAUTYPRO have simplified their pouches with a layer of paper printed with vegetable ink and a thin food grade plastic lining that has a unique additive to turn it into no longer being plastic.

This environmentally friendly biodegradable material can be disposed of in general waste, recycling bins and home composts, it will even biodegrade if it ends up in the sea.
